What does Asian Longhorned Beetle being in Boston mean for Newton?
Question:

What does Asian Longhorned Beetle being in Boston mean for Newton?
Answer:

The discovery of Asian Longhoned Beetle in Boston is certainly a concern for Newton and it is important that we all keep an eye out for it.

Due to the discovery of the beetle a restricted area has been created that means no wood is to leave the restricted area.  The restricted area is in portions of Boston and Brookline.  NONE of the restricted area is in Newton.

It is important that this pest be reported if sited.  If you think you have found it or something that looks like it please do not hesitate to contact us at (617) 796-1530 or by email at urbanforestry@newtonma.gov.  If at all possible please try to capture the insect, it does not harm humans or animals.

You can also report a sighting by going to the following web site:  http://massnrc.org/pests/albreport.aspx
